Welcome to the last week of Genius Hour! I have to admit, I didn't do much this week. There really wasn't much free time to make anything on the wheel, so I have nothing to new to show. I did spend most of my time uploading pictures onto my website, making it look more like my own. I think I finally completed it! I am starting to put together my final presentation of my work as well.

Week eleven is here! This week was a productive one. I was only able to make one thing on the wheel, but some other pieces were done firing, and I spent most of my time glazing those. Also, my first set of pottery was finally fired, and now they are completely finished! Here are some pictures of my progress. The one on the left is of the piece I made, while the one on the right are a few of the finished pieces.
Welcome to week ten of Genius Hour! This week was even more successful than last week. I was able to get on the wheel twice and make three more pieces during the week. I made one more cylinder and two vases. However, my first few pieces haven't been glazed yet. I don't know when they will be. Here are some pictures of them, including the one cylinder I made last week.
Welcome to this week’s blog post! This week, I made much more improvement than last week. I was able to get on the wheel twice this week, and I made three pieces! I have found a lot more time to be able to practice in class and have made it a priority to throw at least once every week. I think I have been able to make a lot of progress with the extra time because I haven’t rushed myself to make anything on the wheel. I made two bowls and one cylinder. Here are some pictures of the bowls.
I’m back for week eight of Genius Hour! This week was somewhat productive. Yesterday, I tried to throw on the wheel. First, I used clay that was too hard to throw with, so I kinda wasted time doing that. I tried some different clay, and it was able to shape and work better. I was able to center it. However, when I tried to pull the walls, it became off-centered. I tried to fix it, but it ended up falling. I wasn't able to make anything else this week, so there is really nothing new to show this week.
Welcome back to Genius Hour! I started back on this project this week. This week has been pretty stressful and hectic, but I was able to get a few things done. I checked and saw that my first few pieces were fired, and I got them out of the kiln room. I plan to glaze those next week and get them back in the kiln after they dry. I was also able to get on the wheel today and make a piece. Here are a couple pictures, showing how it turned out.
We've hit the halfway mark! It’s officially week six of Genius Hour. I have some bad news. I haven't made any pieces this week. I did get on the wheel two times, centered the clay, started to make something, and then it fell. This has happened the past three times I've tried to make something, and I don’t know what the problem is. I also haven't checked to see if my pottery is out of the kiln. I really need to glaze those soon, but I haven’t had the time.
I’m back for week six! I’m not gonna lie. This week was worse than the last. I had such a hard time being able to make progress on my pottery. After the delay we had this week and our other art projects, there wasn’t much time to get anything done. My teacher was also gone a few day this week, too, so I could only get into her smart lunch for one day.
Welcome back to week four of my project! This week, I didn’t get too much done during the beginning. Since it snowed, I wasn’t able to get on the wheel for a few days or take my pieces to the kiln. I made a bowl (-ish) piece one day during smart lunch. I think it was a little off-centered when I made it, but it’s not that noticeable. When I was taking it off the wheel, the bottom was still a little wet, so I messed up the shape some. I only had forty minutes to make the bowl and clean the wheel, which takes a while, so I think I rushed myself to finish, causing me to mess up. Here’s how the piece turned out.
A lot of progress was made during week three! At first, it started out rough. I tried to do some research on pottery techniques, but I wasn't able to find much information. However, I didn't spend a lot of time researching, because I’ve had too much other homework and pretty much forgot about it. What I did find was basically more centering techniques, which have not been helping that much in the first place. I think I am just going to scrap the research, unless I really need to understand something.
